Acorn Property Solutions Construction department is headed up by James Honey, who has over 25 years’ experience in the building industry.

This page offers you a brief insight to our history.

James started in his father’s small civil engineering company, based in Cornwall, where he learnt many different trades, including carpentry and bricklaying. Whilst at the company he was involved in several prestigious projects for the National Trust, including restorations works to the Treffry Place, National Trust house, and the historic working harbour at Charlestown Cornwall.

In 1991, James moved to Vancouver Canada, and spent 3 years working for a specialist underpinning company.

On returning to Cornwall in 1998, after a further 4 years working in Berlin , Germany, he worked as a projects manager at a civil engineering firm where projects included the new water treatment works at Newquay and Hayle, minor works for the MOD, and a Mcdonald’s Drive through in St. Austell!

His final project in the UK was a 2.5km pipeline for South West water Company, through the heart of Dartmoor National Park, where it rained constantly for seven months, from the start to the end of the project, prompting his decision to move to sunnier climes!

For his first project after moving to Spain, James was commissioned to build a bespoke country farmhouse in Flix, Catalunya, where he learnt to combine the best aspects of English and Spanish construction techniques.

Since then he has undertaken a variety of projects, including the construction of a small block of flats and the complete refurbishment of several luxury villas on the coast.
